Gulf Regional Planning Commission has an annual update to the MS Gulf Coast Apartment Survey dating back for over ten years. This annual survey is an analysis of the local multifamily housing market, and includes an analysis of existing apartment properties, a review of the apartment projects under construction, and an evaluation of overall market conditions. The survey includes both market-rent and assisted units located in multifamily rental housing properties containing eight or more units. The analysis is reported by jurisdiction with a discussion of vacancy rates and rental rates by apartment size. The survey is a particularly useful tool for monitoring the recovery of apartments in the post-Katrina years, and for projecting future housing needs, types and sizes best suited to meet the changing demographics and priorities of our coastal residents.
